Generated Media Has Short Timeline

Using V5 here. I put a generated media event onto the timeline and stretched it out to 30.29 seconds. There are indents along the top of the event at 9:29 then every 10 seconds up to the end.

The generated media is a colr gradient that I want to move from one shade at the begining to another at the end. So I figure I'll just place a key frame at 30:29. Here's the problem, the timeline in the keyframe window only goes to 9:29!

What am I missing?

This is because your still image default is set to 10 seconds. Go to Options>Prefs>Editing, and change this if you'd like. Better option is to create a selection the length of your generated media. Then right click inside the selection, and your generated media will be that length.
If you drag it from the media pool or insert it from the right click, you can also set the length in the gen media dialog at the top of the dialog box for that generated media. You can also always edit the generated media and change it's length, the keyframe time will change with it.

Along with Spot's suggestion for changing the default length of images / media, you can change the any particular media's length in the media generator window (same window as the keyframes). There's a textbox for the length at the top.

Have you got the Vegas manual? I'm sure this is covered in there. :)
