Generated Media Text Keyframes

I saw someone posted about some issues with keyframes on generated media I believe.

Here is my issue:
1. Add a generated text media to the timeline.
2. Type your text.
3. Choose Animate.
4. Add a keyframe at the beginning.
5. Move the cursor to the end (on the keyframe timeline).
6. Change the font size.

I do not get a linear progression between the originating font size and the final font size. This is not what I expected as the keyframes are set to linear.

Can anyone else confirm this?

This is by design

Care to elaborate on when this design would be useful? I can easily get the same effect by taking two GM events and having one as one font size and the other as another. Keyframing should allow for linear movement... or they should take away the keyframes and the keyframe types that are not allowed. :)

Thanks for the quick response though.

I went back to 9pro to see how it was then and I saw that it was the same. I knew that I was able to keyframe text before and then I remembered I did it using the pan/crop tool, not the keyframes built into the GM.

I assume the benefit is if you are changing a word or letters or colors only? Just not size.

Wow! jrazz, you are indeed correct. On my Vegas 10.0b, 32bit. The text moves slightly (can't tell whether it increases in size) as we start to play. Then the complete font change occurs in one frame.

I tried all types of fade types (linear, slow, fast) and they all appear to work the same way.

Confirmed here too :(
10.0b, XP Pro, SP3

I don't believe it's ever been any different. The size has always been "hold" rather than linear as far back to as many versions of Vegas as i've ever used.

Yup, Vegas has never had smooth text size progression. I'm assuming this is because fonts don't normally have a smooth text size progression. I don't see "8, 8.01, 8.02, 8.03, etc." in the sizes. in the colors Vegas (or any other app) doesn't make up colors that don't exist when you move through a color spectrum, they just use the ones available (and we get the same thing: banding!)

As far as I was always concerned, (and still am) Vegas does it the correct way, other apps do it the wrong way. Like PAR. :D

I assume you mean using the old Text Plug-in (Generated Media Text)...If I'm understanding what was wanted, ProType Titler can do this easily using keyframes.

Yes. ProType can and does do this very well. I wanted to use the text generated media that allows for the track below to show through and found it quicker to do it with the "old Text Plug-in" as it is a preset.
