Get video, but NO AUDIO thru firewire

It just stopped sending audio, but I know something's changed. I have tested the firewire, re-booted, I have a Sony Vaio P4 with 2GH, going to a Sony VX1000. Settings seem all correct, i.e., 16 bit, 48 hz, Microsoft Sound Mapper the device (which I have always used. I did delete some programs yesterday to make space, but what could I have deleted to cut off the audio from the firewire. Get sound on the computer sound system--none in my camer and none in the monitor attached to my camera, of course. Anybody have any ideas? TIA, Burt

Firewire doesn't pass the audio til it's muxed with the video. You need to have an audio send to your speakers to hear the audio, unless you are rendering everything first.
In other words, only during print to tape will you hear audio via the camera/firewire connection.
