Getting black screens in Preview Display

I am making videos for YouTube. I put commentary on the videos. When I am watching the video back in Preview mode, and speaking for my commentary, I occasionally get a black screen on the preview screen. It usually lasts for a few seconds and goes away, but it is a persistent problem. I have noted that this issue usually happens when the timeline of the video preview "passes over" two clips that are placed side by side in the timeline. Is there anyone who knows how to fix this issue? Even though the preview screen gets the black screen, it doesn't carry over to the final rendered video. It's very frustrating as I can't narrate something in the video preview that I cannot see. :)

Looks like your computer is not powerful enough to handle video clips fades. Unfortunately, you did not provide computer spec, video properties, preview settings, so it's all just a wild guess.
You can try to reduce preview quality and/or prerender video to make timeline playback smoother

I don't have a supercomputer, but it's far from not being powerful:

OS: Windows Ultimate
RAM: 32GB RAM
GPU: GTX 760 GPU (4GB of VRAM)
CPU: Intel 2600 @ 3.4GHz

I'm watching the video on Normal settings.

Go to this thread and read my post 2nd from bottom of 4/14/2011. Some of those 8 steps might also help with black frames as well as smooth playback.

Restart Vegas as the last thing you do before a render. That often fixes the black frames issue. If you have the problem, they tend to re-appear during long edit sessions.

What video format are you using? In some versions of Vegas, some formats such as 3rd party AVI files (e.g. Cineform) could be worse than others for black frames.
