Getting Rid of Black Bars

I"m a newbie. I own Movie Studio 9 Platinum. I'm make a photo slide show.

After I imported the photos into Movie Studio and put them on a video timeline, a thick black bar appears on the left side and the right side of each photo.

I don't want any bars of any color. I want the image to take up the full area for the image.

How do I get rid of these black bars?

Bring up the Pan/Crop settings for the first image, right-mouse-button click inside the cropping frame, select 'match output aspect'. That will crop inside the image to match the frame size and fill the frame.

Unfortunately you have to do this for every image.

Could you not do that to the first image, then select all the other images and do a paste event attributes?

Only if all the images are the same aspect ratio.
