getting rid of error meesage

every time i record audio in i get this error

The playback device Microsoft Sound Mapper is in use by another application.

i can click ok on this message and then it starts recording.

I am not running any other software when i get this error.

please help
running vegas audio v.2.0b build 362 (under windows NT)
