John . .apologies . .been away, back now and will get on the case with this again today. However, audio WITH viodeo is fine . . it is LOOPS used as audio B/Gs that create a poblem.
As I said, ACID5 and V5 works well - only this one "sticky" sticking stuttery issue in V6 I want to surmount.
As craftech mentioned, In your prefs>audio device tab do you have windows classic wave driver or asio selected. Sometimes Microsoft sound mapper defaults (for me), and that is not good
"What is your CPU usage as it stutters?" . . 24% <> 32%
"Do you have "reverb" enabled in your soundcard settings?" . . Don't know . ?
"What is in the FX chain for the audio? Any 3rd party plugins? Bypass the FX chain and see what happens." 3rd Party Plugins? For Audio? No.
"Vegas' Advanced Audio Device setup should have the same buffer size as your sound card." . .Where do I find the Card Buffer size? The Vegas Advanced is a Sub Menu which doesn't show this. The Vegas Audio device tab DOES have a Playback buffering option. . . I'm lost here!
"Are you using ASIO or Wave Classic Drivers?" No asio in anything I look at. I've tried Wave Classic - MS Sound Mapping . .. all with the same stuttering effect.
Please help .. driving me nuts! - I too, have disengaged Media Manager.
They are the loops I got as part of the package that comes with ACID 5. remember they DO work in ACID5 and the Project works in V5 - where it was created.
This IS an old (Winter 04) V5 project, now opened in V6. Some of the video media is still offline, as I had deleted it from the HDs. I have
"partially" got back some of the media by doing recapture. Be that as it may, I'm still playing this partially recaptured project successfully within V5!
So, Using this as the controlled experiment AND seeing that everything audio is duplicated within V6 - I get this issue.
Here is a shortened list of the loops:
ILONA - this series . . .
Rapoon Sci-Fi - this series . . . .
MA JA
BUT! But, but they play beautifully from V6 Project Media! Go figure? - This makes me think that all my V6 Settings are good to go . . but when I play them on the T/L this is where it happens.
PLUS, I can make a "new" V6 and scatter the very same Loops and they play beautifully on the t/l . . . Mario, I'm starting to think that my V5 project - although playing well in V5 - wont play well within V6. Hmmm...?
So to summarize for the same music loops :
1/- Old V5 Project plays well in V5
2/- Same project in V6 I get stuttering
3/- Play/audition loops in V6 Project Media they play well! Weird . .
4/- Make "New" V6 Project using same loops, and so far, they work.
So, for me, there appears to be something, within the audio for these loops, NOT converting from V5 to V6 in a coherent way.
Well, since nobody else seems to have ideas, it's time for some trial and error... whatya think?
Probably the only thing you've done to your loops is scan them for Media Manager, right?
Try saving your problematic V5 with a new name, then open that file in V6. Do the loops stutter?
Delete the problematic audio loops and replace them with the same loops DIRECTLY FROM THE LOOP CDs (not from your hard-drive).
Does it play OK?
If it does, delete those loops and replace them with the same, but scanned loops, from your hard-drive. Do they play OK? If they do... I honestly don't know why they do. If they don't, maybe something happened during the scanning of your loops on your hard-drive.
Go into the Sounds and Audio Devices applet.
Click on the "Audio" tab at the top of the applet. (This should show three sections: Sound Playback, Sound Recording, and MIDI)
Click on the "Advanced" button in the Sound Playback section of the tab. (This should open an Advanced Audio Properties box showing the speaker configuration)
Click on the "Performance" tab at the top of the Advanced Audio Properties box.
Change the "Hardware acceleration" to either "None" or "Full".
Restart the computer and see if the problem still occurs.
Craftech? It made no difference. I changed the Hardware acel DOWN from Full to None. Still Choppy/stuttering.
Peter? I have outlined the step by step above. If this isn't what you need, I'm at a loss in trying to convey/communicate what you need to ascertain a fuller understanding of my predicatment.
However, and again:
I had created a V5 project in Winter 2004.
It was several pieces of video AND several tracks of Loops. These loops were part of the Acid Pro package. These loops work in AcidPro.
Some of the video media is still offline, as I had deleted it from the HDs. I have "partially" got back some of the media by doing recapture. Be that as it may, I'm still playing this partially recaptured project successfully within V5!
So, using this as the controlled experiment - it works in Vegas5 still - AND seeing that everything audio is duplicated within V6 - I get this issue.

ILONA - this series . . .
Rapoon Sci-Fi - this series . . . .

Peter? "Are you using Mapper mode or WaveClassicMode as your audio device type in the Audio Device Prefs page?" - tried both. Niether makes a difference - both stutter.
