Video Movie Studio v17 (Build223)
For the first time in many years I've recently taken some clips of fast moving subjects, aircraft at an airshow.
These were encoded into *.mts files using the Sony AVCHD codec.

I am suffering from a high degree of ghosting in some frames.
I guess that this is a problem with the cameras codec and compression settings.
But I'm wondering if there is any form of post processing Video FX I can use in VMS to correct or reduce the problem.

Thanks

The video that you have has already been encoded from the camera original into a BluRay render - this is probably the cause depending on the render settings used to render and the project settings of the original video for the BD .mts render settings.

Try going back to the original camera video to avoid those .mts render problems. If the original camera video is not available and all you have available is the BD .mts render, it's unlikely that the ghosting can be corrected because it's embedded in that .mts video.

Thanks for that hint j-v
I think I see the problem.
My camera settings are set to record 25p, so I've always assumed I was working with progressive scan.
But the MediaInfo data is showing the files are interlaced!

Thanks Dexcon.
I was expecting that I was going to be stuck with that 😖
I need to dig a bit deeper into the Sony a6000s menus.

OK, glad you saw it yourself.
I believe there is a solution, but first I have to know how you did render causing those ghosts, exact rendertemplate please and what is the goal for your renders?

@Phil2440 , I don't have my VMS installed but try to set your project "deinterlaced" differently.

Hi j-v
I haven't consciously rendered the file! That is the *.mts file copied from my camera SD card to a directory on my PC.
I guess that means the camera (Sony a6000) software is doing the rendering based on some quality settings. I certainly haven't knowingly set a "Blu-Ray Video" format.

j-v wrote on 6/26/2023, 10:40 AM

OK, so there is no renderproblem.
Best solution to overcome these things is to reset your camera to make progressive files with 50fps

@Phil2440 Are your project settings set to Vegas's default deinterlacing method of "Blend Fields"? If so that can cause ghosting, especially when there's movement. Change to "Interpolate Fields" to preserve both fields. Personally I consider Interpolation should be the default.
