Gina 24 settings?

I just added an Echo Gina to my system and when i use the ASIO drivers my audio sync goes way off. If I switch back to the Microsoft Sound Mapper everything is back in sync. I'm using the latest Gina driver, here's my system specs;

Intel 845pesvl mobo, P4 2.4, 1 gig Crucial 2700 DDR ram, Windows XP pro with SP1 -

Am I overlooking something simple? - I think I've tried every possible setting and slider, it seems to make no difference. Thanks a ton for any info,

Did you set the Gina as the default in Control Panel in Windows? That might make a difference.

Hey, thanks for the reply. Gina is the only sound card in the box. I disabled the onboard sound in the bios before installing the Gina & it's the only sound card showing up.

Here is another wrinkle - if I monitor video in the the little Vegas window the sync looks good but as soon as I hit the external monitor the sync is way off. My firewire card is an ADS Pyro and it works fine with the microsoft sound mapper driver. I have to slide the sync offset frames slider to 7 to get good sync though.

Hold ON.....This could be it. It seems if i go into -Preferences -Advanced -Configure with the Asio Echo WDM driver selected as Audio Device Type & set the Buffer size to 4,096 my sync looks right on. Enabling or disabling asio direct monitoring doesn't seem to make any difference.

Too cool! Surround Sound here I come! If anyone has more suggestions feel free to respond. I'm not quite sure what I'm doing, just trying the monkey on the typewriter method. If any guru's know any magic settings please feel free to share. I will try and do some more testing later...

Thanks so much for the info and help!

I have a similar setup except using Dual Gina20's and haven't really seen this problem. It sounds like you might have some kind of conflict with your video card. Make sure the Gina is on it's own IRQ. If it's in a PCI slot next to your video card slot, it's very possible it's sharing an IRQ. Move the Gina card over one slot and see it that fixes your problem, or try changing the IRQ assignments within Windows. You would have had to set your PC in "standard PC" mode when setting up windows XP to do that, so moving the card to another slot might be an easier solution.

A/V sync adjustments for 1394 external monitor should be made in the "Video Device" prefs page. Changing the soundcard settings isn't the right way to compensate for the offset.

Thanks for the replys, this is very helpful & I can't believe I'm hearing from SOFO so fast! You guys rock! So....It looks like I'm on the wrong track, crap. When I mess with the buffer settings, -Vegas -Preferences -Audio Device
-Advanced -Configure and set the Buffer Size to 4,096 I can start in sync but it drifts off fast. I though I had it but it looks like I didn't. I've tried the irq thing already & everybody is on their own irq:
18-Gina
19-IEEE 1394 Pyro card
20-Network card
22-Promise Fasttrack

no sharing at all, right now I have the USB disabled and I've even tried disabling the network card, doesn't seem to change anything. I get a thumbs up from windows, it says I'm using the correct driver and that it's working properly. The audio sounds great so far -no pops clicks or drop outs, it's just way off sync with the ASIO driver. I've tried every setting in the video device prefs page with the sync offset slider - no joy. As soon as i go back to the Microsoft Sound Mapper & put the sync offset slider to 7 everything's back in sync.

The only thing I can think to do now is start re-installing drivers and maybe Vegas. Feel free to give me any input and thanks for the input so far!

Sincerely,

I think I have solved the problem! It looks like an uninstall/re-install of Vegas did the trick. With Sync offset slider set to 7 (the same setting as with the Microsoft Sound Mapper driver) & the ASIO WDM driver buffer set to 512 (which I think is a default, anybody know what this should be at?) I have perfect sync & it seems to be holding, will do a few more tests but "it seems" that the re-install of Vegas did the trick.

What I think caused the problem was I added the Gina with Vegas already installed. Maybe Vegas couldn't see some bit of code...I have no clue. When I installed Vegas with the Gina already loaded up and working everything seems to be o.k.

For the record here is the stuff I tried that didn't do anything;
-uninstall/re-install Gina
-uninstall/re-install Pyro card

Thanks a bunch everybody for the help! I'm really impressed with the SOFO support! I'm just trying to get the Vegas 4 demo to work, with this kind of Company support & great products it looks like they have made another sale! I sure hope Sony is good to you guys.

Sincerely,
