Global Crossfades

I typically edit a file in the Trimmer window, then, add the desired portion of the trimmed file to my timeline by using the "add media from cursor" button. What I end up with is a timeline with absolutely no cross fades. This forces me to go back into the timeline window and manually create cross fades between each file. This can be very tedious process! Is there a way to highlight all or portions of the timeline and automatically induce a cross fade to a desired length of time?
Thanks

Go to Options>Preferences>Editing, then try and see if this works for you. Click on Automatically Overlap Multiple . . . and right below it set your frame overlap amount. It may not overlap the clip straight from the Trimmer, but it may Snap to that frame amount ( you may need Snapping turned on ).

Hope this helps.

Close, but no cigar! The "add media from cursor" or "add media up to cursor" buttons over-rides the recommended Preferences. Thanks for the suggestion, maybe there is another approach?
