glow effect trouble

Hmmm--heres what i did.
I placed picture on a track ---then placed an an object with a mask on another track above.I cropped it down and applied motion using keyframes in pan and crop-now my cat hovers up and down next to yoda in the picture. Then i opened track motion and placed a glow effect under the cat, so it looks like its being moved by the force.Great----problem is now the glow effect is present in every event on the track before it and it is driving me crazy...Is there a way to have trac motion and glow or shadow effects without effecting the whole track?

Keyframes. Place keyframes where you want the effect to start and end. Place two more keyframes one frame before the effect start and another one frame after the effect end. Also place another one at the beginning of the track. Leave the keyframes at the effect start & end alone. In the glow effect set the other keyframes to glow percent 0 and intensity 0. This will effectively turn off the glow. In Track Motion set the other keyframes to normal, having the video frame fill the project frame.

Or, create another track that contains only the affected items.
