Hi all:
Happy father's day!!
I would like to edit my gopro camera in vegas and upload it to youtube.
can someone please tell me the exact render formats that I would need.
thanks in advance
Current versions of Vegas should be able to use the Go Pro footage as is. Though I'd recommend you use the Match Media settings tool to match your project settings to your media for most efficient operation.
After that, the Main Concept Render As that JohnnyRoy recommended above should give you excellent results online.
Make sure you know what you recorded in - ie. 1080 and fps - you need to match your Vegas project properties to this. I believe youtube now supports 1080 50p now, so if its fast action, this is what you want, otherwise a lesser frame rate will do.
To render out I use the Sony AVC mp4 to good effect - again choose a 1080 template, match your fps to your footage and set the quality and bit rate appropriately. I have a feeling that for youtube you want to be looking at around 10mbs which is the max youtube takes otherwise it will re-encode itself.
That 10mbs is really the cusp of quality when it comes to HD IMO. Have a look at the Vegas to Handbrake method of rendering. It may seem a bit of a faff to set up and get your head around to start with, but once set up it is no bother. This method, particularly at low bit rates squeezes extra quality out of your renders.
One other thing with the Gopro depending on what your shooting - consider medium FOV. It has far less barrell distortion and avoids the "Gopro look".
