Ctrl-left & ctrl-right arrows jump backwards & forwards to markers and media breaks.

CTRL+right or left arrow to go to previous or next

Even easier - hit numbers 0-9 on your keyboard to jump to said marker. Not the numeric keyboard numbers. Only issue is that you run into problems if you have more than 10 markers; can't jump to those with this method as far as I know.

"Ctrl-left & ctrl-right arrows jump backwards & forwards to markers and media breaks."

Ctrl + Alt + left or right arrow is actually the shortcut to find breaks in your selected media track... pretty handy in helping to find any clips that should be joined together that may be apart.

Neon also has a goto first / last marker Wizard.

All we need now is a wizard called check edit. The idea is to jump to 4 seconds before and play through 3 seconds after every cut/transition on the timeline.

You cannot play the timeline from within a script. (Actually, you can "kind of " simulate it but it's not really "playing")

Hi Guys! It's a shame we can't make more use of the Edit Details view . . . I'm sure this would be a neat option . . . Click on the Marker t/c and jump straight to it .. . as you can "order" the names of the markers one could select a whole bunch of markers for somehow viewing for referencing . . "I want all markers with this bloke speaking!" . . . something like that would be neat. I just feel "Edit Details" view is an underused and under resourced function, waiting for a bit of R&D TLC!

I totally agree. I was going to suggest using it, but then remembered that you cannot "goto" anywhere on the timeline from the Edit Details view. Too bad.

Again, agree with the comments above on the 'Edit Details' window. You can right click on the markers on the timeline and choose 'Go To', so it makes total sense to me to be able to do this from the Edit Details window.

In fact, being able to click on any of the time value boxes in the Edit Details window, right click and choose 'Go To' would be absolutely great. Saves time copying and pasting to the box just under the timeline.

ibliss , yes that's the idea! - t/c anywhere at any time gets you to the place . . bit like a "web-link" . . NOW there's a thought!?!?! Total fromanywhere toanywhere editing . .. hmmm .. . I need to lie down . .. phewwww... came across all clamy for a moment .. yer know, sometimes I feel we are all "fiddly" at the edges with this NLE stuff .. . there always seems to an alternative that is just lurking outta sight; around a corner; in a shadow; dimly light . . . slippery stuff . . .

I also keep thinking of the movie with Tom Cruise - where he is a future cop and he gets to "stop" crimes just as they are about to happen . . but in the HQ he gets to operate a MASSIVE info screen where he kinda thinks and speaks insrtuctions for audio and video to come on screen .. Vegas [version] 101.01 build gamma?

But he always seemed to be standing up and jumping around. Right now I can use Vegas from the comfort of my chair - so it already has the edge over the Minority Report computer in this respect! ;-)

Yeah, yeah yeah . . . "Minority Report"! - that was it, thanks for putting me outta my misery . . Cruise, didn't HAVE to jump about ibliss! That was the acting . . . it was just make believe - honest!! ;-)

But you must admit, the multi screen NLE was a bit good eh? So you wouldn't have one?

Grazie

ps - Why "Minority" anyway . .?

Maybe if I had a room big enough...

back on-topic, do you make use of Remote Keys or any other macro recorder? I've just added a key to my Remote Keys panel that copies the time value from the Edit Details window (whichever one you have clicked on) moves the cursor to that position (basically using copy+paste).

So it reduces the workflow to two mouse clicks - once on the Edit Detail time value, and then once on the Remote Keys button.

The sequence for the Remote Keys button is:

{HOLD.CONTROL}c{KEY.ESC}{HOLD.ALT}0{HOLD.CONTROL}g{HOLD.CONTROL}v{KEY.ENTER}

I'll post it on my site for permanant reference. Course hopefully this might be one of the tweaks in V5, but in the meantime (today...:)

For those of you who don't know about remote keys, your best bet is to check out Mary Hedler's excellent 'Macros' tutorial found here. Click on the 'macros' link at the top of the page.
