GOAL: import 3D .MTS file => export (or render) 3D sbs (half) .MP4 vi

GOAL: import 3D .MTS file => export (or render) 3D sbs (half) .MP4 video. ....

With Vegas Pro I can import a .MTS file as left and right tracks. But... So far I have not found a way to export the tracks together as a single sbs (half) 3D file (left eye track =>left half; right eye track => right half).

I've tried several things the documentation suggested, but I have not found the correct workflow yet.

Any suggestions?

(Note: With Magix, when I import the .MTS file I get a single monoscopic track.)

Thx.

The result is exactly what I am looking for. Your output file genuinely has different left and right images.

What is your source file?

I see two possible differences.

1. My source file is .MTS from a SONY 3D camera. When imported into the Vegas timeline it comes in as two tracks. I need to understand how to combine the two tracks into left and right eye in a single file. So far, I have not been able to get the instructions in the HELP on going from left and right eye tracks to a single sbs with left and right views to work for me.

2. You have checked the "adjust source media" button. I do not think I did that. I will try that.

1, Check the project properties, not what "adjustment"!

2, My source file is .M2TS from a SONY 3D camera, too.

I have an .MTS file. When it loads in Vegas I have 2 tracks. A left eye view & a right eye view. If I specify the project setting as sbs (half) it takes only the top track and splits that with two halves that are the same.

(see screenshot)

I also tried to designate the tracks separately as left eye and right eye, but the project settings are applied to both tracks, regardless of which track is selected.

How do I either

1- Get the MTS file into Vegas as one track that it will correctly parse to left eye on the left and right eye on the right of each sbs frame.

or

2. Get the rendering to take one track to sbs left and the other track to right.

Thx.

Repeat pls: In project the 3D-modus is sidebyside half.

After the project is determined, case 1:

If your footage is true 3D-material with 2 streams and you drag it into VEGAS edit area, there will be only one video-timeline with its internal left and right streams.

You can check the clip properties, it says "3D-mode: Pair with next stream"

Right mouse click the event again, you also can see

If you don't see that, then it's not 3D-footage. Be aware that the 3D-camcorder can film in 2D, too.

Case 2:

Your source footage is shot separately in a left-file and a right-file.

Select them and add them to project media list (the Mediapool)

In mediapool, select both of them and right mouse choose: Pair as stereoscopic 3D subclip

Drag the subclip onto timeline, you get the same result as case 1

For "how do I either"

1, you only need to set the project properly, VEGAS parses everything without your consideration.

If you have a full sidebyside monitor/TV for your editing, you can also make the project as:

2, the output for sidebyside half requires no special render settings. Just take the default template for normal videos, only that you get 2 half screens in one frame. Your 3D-monitor/TV will work it out.

But the full sidebyside one needs to change:

The rendered video looks out so in a none-3D monitor/player:

If you wanna do an industrial standard 3D-Disc, both projects can be rendered with this template:

Thanks!

With your help I think I got it to work!

I'll try again tomorrow and make sure I understand the workflow. I think the key for me was that I had to check "Pair with next stream" in the right place.

My videos were definitely all 3D. Depending on the state of Vegas, my MTS file came in as either 2 tracks or one. In either case, when I checked the right buttons, I got the correct output file.
