Going loopy?

Hi - when dragging video clips along the timeline I sometimes get a blue box covering a clip and the section of tracks immediately above it, with small yellow triangles at the left and right top edges of the box. I think this is something to do with looping, (not sure, I'm very new to Vegas) , Can anyone confirm this, tell me what it is for and how I can get rid of it? Many thanks.

This is a Loop Region. Threre are a number of reason why you would want to create a Loop Region. Here are a couple of examples:

Edit/preview a segment over and over until you are happy with it.
Render a small piece of a larger project.

You can set your preferences for Loop behavior in your Options/Preferences/Editng. There is a check box to "Collapse the Loop Region when No Time Selection is Made." Try checking that and see if the Loop Region behavior on your timeline changes.

Thanks for your response, Kimberley. I haven't progressed far - can't see any difference in the timeline since collapsing the loop region, It seems when I double click on a video, clip itI selects it and the tracks above it, which is fine, since these settings disappear when I click on a different clip. But there is a yellow inverted triangle called 'loop region' appears above the timeline tracks and it moves to above whichever picture I click on. Do you know what is the purpose of this?
