Going to edited portion with page up/down

Hi all,
I have been a very long time Premiere user user (latest version PE11) and get some habits from there. I switch very recently to MSP12. Finally thanks to the posts and the tutos, I am starting to speedup with with the Sony soft. I have a very simple question. My timeline is divided in 5 seconds segment (my choice of comfort for editing) but I have edited portions that obviously do not match the 5 seconds timeline marks. When I use page up/down I am navigating through the 5 sec marks. Under Premiere this allows me to navigate forth and back in my edited points (which I found more handy, as I can go back to my latest cut). Which shortcut or preference do I have to use to do the same under MSP12.
Thank you
Bruno

Try Ctrl-arrow keys. These will jump left or right to the nearest edit point. There is one tricky aspect, in that it bases that decision on the currently selected track. So, if for example you have a lot of small video edits while you have one continuous music sound track, and that sound track is the currently selected track, Ctrl-arrow will move to the beginning/end of that sound track rather than to the previous/next video edit. So, you probably want to remember to click on the track you're interested in first, before using Ctrl-arrows.

Many Thanks Chienworks,
I tried and this does not work. Ctrl+Ar in fact change the timeline setting. I have done a screen capture but I do not know how to add images on the forum. I am sure this would be more understandable as I am not sure I use the right terms with edit marks.
Kind Regards,
Bruno

Try Ctrl Alt Right Arrow/Left Arrow. It works for me.
As Chienworks says though, the required track needs selecting first.

Have a look at the keyboard shortcuts in the Help menu.

Also, check for a printable version of Vegas Pro keyboard shortcuts

For info re: trimming, slip trimming, I found a recent tutorial on creativecow.net to be good one. In particular, see #28, 29,30 and 41.

To all,
Thank you very much. The pad using 7 and 9 is exactly what I am looking for. One question : the tutos are about Vegas pro. As I will only do editing this weekend, I am wondering if this work for movie studio 12 too.
I did not know this tuto and this is great.
Have a nice day.

Bruno,

Almost all of them are perfectly compatible. The ones with the advanced 3rd party features aren't (eg. Boris), neither are the track motion blur, protype titler, or some of the compositing modes, 3D track motion, some masking elements, or nesting projects to name a few. An easy way to check is the comparison between VMS and Vegas Pro on the SCS website.

FYI - If you are travelling, you can also stream them via podcast.

Thanks Mark,
I will have a thorough look at it this week-end.
Have a nice day.

Hi everyone,
Just to confirm that I played with Vegas shortcuts and it works like a charm. The 7 and 9 keys are doing the job.
I am beginning to be more and more fund about MSP12 (too bad you cannot do 3D split screens like Premiere El.)
Regards,
Bruno
