Makes my eyes burn. Where's the knob to turn down the red...
(While we're at it, the pink on the forums banner is not exactly my shade of hunky he-man editor pink... all due respect to the gal editors out there and MaryKay reps worldwide.)
I like the new colors. Is the logo new, too? Now all we need is some text-formatting options, i.e., italics, bold, underline, etc. Of course next would come emoticons, and other junk, so, I'll just be happy with the new look.
i think satish should have a picture on here---for forum member of the year for creating the free plugins
and he should be able to select the color
happy hollidays everyone

Red is much maligned. Some say a letter written in red ink indicates the writer wants no further dealings with the addressee. Others say it means anger and other negative things. One thing is certain; red gets attention. Maybe SF is saying they are ready to really get noticed. I'm still looking for the italic, bold, underline thing. It must be something inside the web browser that I don't know how to use or some sort of code that I haven't learned. If it's built into this forum it sure is hiding itself well.
You must use HTML format tags for bold, italics, and underline.
To bold something, type in <b>stuff to be bold</b> and you'll get stuff to be bold
To italicize something, type in <i>stuff to be italic</i> and you'll get stuff to be italic
To underline something, type in <u>stuff to be underlined</u> and you'll get stuff to be underlined
You can mix them, but you must nest them! By this i mean that if you bold first then italicize, you must end the italics first, then end bold, b i /i /b. If you do them in b i /b /i order you can mess up the page.
The [Font Properties] button is right below the [Generate A Random Answer] button which is next to the [Answer A Question With A Question] button. (hint... That's the one right above the [How Nasty Do You Feel Today?] slider.) ;-) Hey, didn't we use to do this in the school playground. It's not polite to tease.
Tors, haha on the reboot. You probably would have had some good fun with us less-than-code-wise users. No I didn't know those codes would work inside here. What I was really hoping is SF would give us some selectable options to automatically b, i or u whatever portion of out reply that we want.
They are called tags, by the way.
No, knowing what most videomakers are made of, restraint genes not being it, I'm glad there are no special effects buttons available in here.
Ok, well since the people responsible for the new design are going to check this thread out for the feed-back... can I make a little suggestion?
I like it overall, but I would add a "back to forum mainpage" at the BOTTOM of the thread.
Alot of these threads are over 30 posts long. We usually go straight to the bottm to see the last post. After reading it, it would be nice to clic on that link right from the bottom of the thread without having to scroll back to the top.
Just a suggestion.
MyST,
If a message is more than a screenful I very seldom see the bottom of it. When I want to read, I get a book.
Are you seeing one message at the time? Can't remember what that was like, but if you choose to see all messages in the thread, you'll have the return button just below the last message.
But that button causes the main page to reload - so I just use the return button in my browser (I use Opera, so I only have to hit z to go back).
I meant that if I select a thread to view, I'll go to the bottm of the tread and look at the last post.
Now, I don't want to just return to the previous page, because doing it that way won't refresh the list. If I'm done reading the threads in the Acid forum, I don't want to return to the Acid forum, then return to the forum mainpage.
What I'm suggesting is below "return to acid forum" there could be a "return to forum mainpage". That way if I'm done in the Acid forum I can select it and return to the forum mainpage directly to see if there were new postings since I went into the Acid forum.
It's just a small suggestion. The forum look doesn't suffer from the lack of it. I just thought I'd mention that it would be nice, not neccessary.
I always right-click the links and open them in a new window. That way, the topic window is still open. To refresh the topic window, I just refresh that screen. It's simple, it works, and I don't have to worry about going "backwards".
Wanna see nice fora (plural of forum) nicely designed ? No comments on content, just the design. You may even use emoticons and basic html tags and quotes when you post, without using a line of code. Plus, you get an information of unseen threads since last visit, etc.
