Good Source for Ritek G04 Printable DVD-R?

I am going to start purchasing these. Where do you order them for a combination of genuine quality and price? I know that there is a lot of fakery in the DVD/CD media business. I have ordered the non-printable Ritek G04 from Newegg.com, but they don't seem to carry the printable type. I like them because they have "spindles" of 50 for $54.99 with free UPS Second Day Air shipping. From California to New York that's a good deal. Unfortunately they don't carry the Ritek G04 printable DVD-R.

Note: The reason I put quotation marks around the word "spindles" above is because the first time I ordered these they looked like a spindle and were listed as a spindle, but when I removed the shrink wrap they flew all over the room scratching around 15 disks. There wasn't an actual spindle in the middle. It was actually a bundle.

Good prices on the posted link. I just paid about 10% more on another link recently posted.

The exact link given seemed to be for regular Ritek G04, though. I assume you found your way to the correct page for printable media.

Meritline.

Meritline is where I bought from. I gather they have a good rep.

The prices on the yahoo link were about $10 cheaper for 50 than what I paid about a week back. I didn't compare them both today. Maybe it was just bad timing.

Not really, I remeber a while back they were selling Maxell discs that weren't really Maxell discs.

A quick search on resellerratings show a decline in their ratings, lifetime rating of only 6.43 out of 10. I wouldn't buy anything from anyone with less than a 8 rating. I'd rather pay the extra 5 cents a disc and get them from a reputable dealer. I usually go with Genesys DTP http://www.genesysdtp.com

I have ordered from GenesysDTP before. I ordered double sided DVD-R and was happy with them. I also ordered software from them as well. I just wasn't sure if they were selling genuine Ritek G04 or I probably would have ordered from them instead because they are much closer (Connecticut) to New York for me. Wish Newegg sold them though. They're great especially with the free Fedex 2nd day air for virtually all they sell.

This is correct. They got burned, as did quite a few other vendors, but rip off artists that put the Maxell ID on the disk, but the item wasn't really Maxell. I wasn't aware that the same thing happened with Ritek. To their credit, Meritline tried hard to refund money to customers who had problems with the media.

I have ordered from Meritline many, many times and am impressed with their sevice, speed of shipping and, of course, their prices.

Ouch! I wish I had seen this thread this morning. I went out this morning and bought TDK DVD-R (2x) spindle of 25 for $50 and TDK DVD-RW (1-2x) pack of 5 for $20. Even with additional shipping you pay on-line, I feel I got ripped....

$2/disk for brand name isn't all that bad. Don't worry, you did just fine.

John, I would have to agree with Tom. Paying $2 per disc when you can pay half that for quality media isn't "fine" where I come from.

Having said that, it must be noted that regardless of what a buyer pays for any given product or service, if he is happy with his purchase, then it was worth it. Conversely, if the buyer is unhappy, then it wasn't worth it.

As I've said in other threads here, I can't comprehend the idea of wanting to pay more for something when it isn't necessary. It boggles the mind and the pocketbook.

Still, for those who choose to pay more, if they are happy, then I am happy for them!

I agree except when the mental cases are "recommending" that SF/Sony charge us ALL more for Vegas and DVDA. Sony should make a sliding rate scale when they sell the software. Charge a reasonable "upgrade" price for the rest of us, and then put a check box at the bottom which says:

"If you choose to pay more for this software which will last around a year before needing to be upgraded once again please check here and indicate in the space below the additional amount to the nearest $100 you want to pay."

"For your generousity you will receive the "Official" Sony Macromedia Flash intro on your software with a copyrite grant to use it as an intro to ALL the videos you produce for a period not exceeding 1 year. The splash screen is customizable and will display the price you paid for the software and can be tailored to flash the price at user determined intervals in the font and style of your choice. That will guarantee that your videos will be deemed nothing less than "truly" professional."

<LOL> I thought that thread had died.

John, I'm in total agreement with you on that! As I said . . . , ah, never mind, I've already said it all. ;o)
