GoPro Hero 6 4K footage has loud static noise

Hello Everyone,

When I wanted to edit my gopro hero 6 footage (shot in 4k) in vegas pro 14, the videos had a very loud background static noise instead of the normal sounds it should have recorded. To be clear: this sound was not there when i watched it using the windows media player.

In the attached picture you can see that the first video I uploaded has a red box, which is the very loud noise im talking about, the second block is a HD(1080p) video i also shot which does not have this sound issue. Im guessing it has something to do with the HVEC.265 codec, but since im not an expert i have no idea how to fix this.

I run VP14 on windows 10, using an i5 8400, with 8 gb of ram

I havent seen a fix for this specific problem yet, only some background noise fixes for vegas pro 15.

Even though I havent found a real fix, I managed to convert the 4k video to HD with HandBrake, after which i can edit the video with normal sound in VP14. This will do for now, but it would be great if anybody has something to fix this!

If you have questions about my problem/settings or something else, let me know!

Unfortunately this wasn't fixed until VP15 build 311.

Besides transcoding, you can also losslessly re-wrap the file with FFmpeg. See this comment on the same issue: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/hevc-gopro-hero-6-audio-issues--109243/#ca673654
