GPU Acceleration on a Virtual Machine?

I have Vegas 11 Pro. I've installed it in a VM (VMWare Workstation 7 Virtual Machine). My host PC has an NVidia GTX 580 card, and both my host and guest OS are Win7 Ultimate 64-bit.

It looks like GPU Acceleration is not available when Vegas is installed in a guest VM?

As an aside, I originally installled Vegas 11 from the install CD/DVD (while disconnected from the Internet). Since I didn't want to waste an activation if GPU acceleration wasn't available, I downloaded trial version of Vegas Pro 11 on another machine. Then I ran this install in my VM (without uninstalling the CD/DVD version). I then connected my VM to the internet, and started and registered (what I thought was the trial of) Vegas. I didn't put in any serial number, but when I look at the help screen it's picked up my serial number. I hope I'm not going to have problems moving this install to a different PC (I'll probably end up installing it on my host PC instead if GPU acceleration isn't available in a VM guest machine).

Can't help on the GPU inside a VM... but on the serial number issue.. don't worry about it. I have moved from system to system with the same serial number and only once had any issues. You are generally allowed at least two and maybe even three different systems. Any issues with the activation you can call Sony and they will often allow the activation. The only time I had an problem it was after several crashes with my system and I had to re-install on several different systems over a period of a few days. I called and explained and they allowed the new activation.

Sorry, can't help you on your VM issue. But, I have been curious as to how Vegas runs on a VM. It seems very logical that running on a VM could solve a lot of issues for users. Of course, they would need the hardware to do it.
