GPU Acceleration setting does not seem to make a difference?

GoodEnough wrote on 12/5/2020, 1:29 PM

Movie Studio 16.

I just rendered a :29 second 4k clip.

It took 1:08 on my PC.

Task Mgr

CPU usage was around 50%-70%

GPU usage was b/w 15%-40%

I turned off GPU Acceleration

And render took the same time.

Task Mgr GPU was still active.

Shouldn't it be slower and not use GPU?

That setting has nothing to do with rendering, but is for preview acceleration with some Video effects.

Ok, my preview is good quality. Smooth and no lag. I do not need to build preview files for 4k. You're saying the GPU helps for this preview smoothness ?

Does cropping a video (Pan/Crop tool . zoom in) increase the render times?

JV,

I see you create proxy files for preview. Do you have an older CPU?

Look into my signature, for programs I don't use anymore that I'm installing only to help others with an older Vegas program, I install it "as default".
