GPU OpenCL vs OpenGL

BamaPaul wrote on 3/2/2012, 3:52 PM
I've been trying for a couple of weeks to get VP11 to run with the GPU turned on in preferences. Works well with it turned off.

I thought the specs on the video card listed OpenCL but it is actually OpenGL.
I assume that has been my problem all along?

Windows Version:7 64-bit
RAM:16gb
Processor:Intel Core i7 2600 3.4gHz
Video Card:Zotac ZT-50304-10M GeForce GTX 560Ti
Sound Card:
Video Capture:CF Cards
CD Burner:
DVD Burner:Pioneer BD-RW BDR-206 ATA Device
Camera:Canon XF300 (CF Cards)

Yes? No? Maybe?

the GeForce GTX 560Ti should work fine. I use the 570, almost the same, working here.
What happens when you enable GPU in vegas? what is the issue.

Paul.

It was either causing vegas to stop responding or a blue screen until today. I downloaded build 595 and now it doesn't crash but stutters and only shows some tracks but not others. Doesn't seem to matter what res I set the preview to.

The GTX560 should work fine as an open cl device. There is something else somewhere causing a disagreement betweeen your system and Vegas 11 Pro. But as to what it is, I haven't got a bloody idea or else I could work for SCS and solve all their problems. ;-)

Thanks guys. I'll look elsewhere for the problem.

What is your hard drive setup. It can cause stuttering if buffers are too small or throughput is choked by a RAID Manager.

Have you tried updating your display card driver to the very latest from the Nvidia website?. Dont bother with the one that comes on CD with the card, its out of date the moment you buy it. Currently, the driver version is 295.73

Check that first before proceeding.

Paul.

On the disk space I have two 1TB with only OS and Vegas loaded. I've tried from 512 to 2048 on the ram preview. Can't tell much difference.

Driver is 295.73.

I do appreciate the help.
