Gradual fade over several seconds?

I have a video overlay that I would like to fade and eventually disappear with time. What I am looking for is a way to manipulate the transparency of a track over time. The little slider in the left of the video track does vary the transparency but it is over the entire length of the track. What I am looking for is an envelope that I could eventually diminish with time.

Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve,

You might try: Insert>Video Envelopes>Track Composite Level

1) Right click on the Track Header
2) Select "Insert/Remove Envelope"
3) Click "Composite Level"

A blue (purple?) line will be added to the top of the selected timeline. Double click on the line to add a point. Add at least one additional point and drag the line down to reduce the opacity level.
