grainy and unsharp image

Hello, I have now Burned my first DVD from my 2 GB production and I would say it is a bit disappointing.The image is bad and compared to the image as edited in Vegas 4.0 it looks grany and unsharp. I thought this would not happen as it is digital.Have you experied the same thing? Or have I forgot som crucial step in the process?

What format (AVI/MPEG-2 reg or MPEG video special DVD-A template) did you use and did you or DVD-A warn it was going to recompress?

Yes it did warn that it would be recompressed. I believe the format was MPEGvideo.

If it did recompress video a good deal that would account for it. Did you keep a watch on how much material you added to your project?

I would try a very small test project on rewritable media so you don't waste a disc and see if the quality is better.

Was the file generated in Vegas, if so with what template?

Yes it was a large file on 2 GB.But I dont know how to avoid recompressing.maybe I rendered it in the wrong format then.Is MPEGvideo different tnan MGEG2 f.ex?
