With the 3D stuff in Vegas now, does a good graphics card speed things up at all? It was my understanding that at least in Vegas 4, all you really needed to look for was a dual head card if you wanted to have 2 monitors.
I've been using the ASUS V9520 Videosuite (Nvidia FX5200 128Mb) for about 4 weeks. I'm delighted with it. Have only used one flat panel with it so far but the 2nd DVI socket is there waiting for when I can afford another.
Dang,
where can you buy a Matrox 550?
I've done a few searches and the thing seems to be obsolete.
May have something to do with its rather odd dual DVI connector.
Bizarre... here, all they have in stock in the stores is the 550. So farss, don't get affraid about "no support whatsoever" ; )
I'm buying the P650 next wednesday; I'll have to order it on tuesday (24h delay between distributor & store).
So far, I've been running the Millenium G450 (OEM) and it never failed with both single or dual displays.
I'm sooooo eager to get the 650! I can even add a 3rd display with the additionnal adaptor if I want in a (near?) future. In fact I'm waiting for an LCD screen that would give me kind of a reference for color correction (ntsc input). But I'm not there yet (still expensive a bit). But... I'll have the option to go 3-screen or not in the end...
And no fan so less noise (I think if you go with the 750 you get a fan...).
I have a friend who does amazing work and swears by color correctioon on an Aplle 23" cinema display. I've heard the general opinion the you need a ntsc (or pal) monitor for this stuff, but I've read other atricles arguing this.
Check out www.eatmedrinkme.com for a trailer for their first feature. It will blow your mind.
