graphics card with hdmi?

am running two digital lcd (samsungs), and monitoring on one lcd. i also use component out from my m15 deck to a switchable sony hr trinitron crt.

i was wondering if there's any dual display video cards that have hdmi out as well?

and, if so, could i use that to monitor while using the lcds for program.

i ask since all my work is now hd (even if it's mostly distributed on dvd), and for the net. it seems i can pick up a reasonably cheap hd / hdmi monitor, and still use my crt for final dvd checks.

I don't think that you will find any HDMI display adapters, at least not at any reasonable price. If you do, it's not likely to be HDCP enabled due to the cost of licensing HDCP.

I have a 40-inch Sony LCD TV/Monitor on my wall that I can plug in to my Radeon HR2400 card DVI port and use as a second monitor.

pity, i was hoping to keep my 2 monitors and connect a 'third'. i can still feed component out via m15, but have no experience using it with an lcd tv?

also, what quality loss / resolution do i get from my m15 deck?

Why not use a cheap DV->HDMI converter, or a DVI->HDMI cable?

Also, most cards ARE HDCP compliant (all the HD series of ATI cards, at least).

I'm using the HD 3870, and my 50" plasma is hooked to it via a DVI->HDMI cable; great for monitoring from Vegas as well as playing Hollywood (or my own) BD titles.

problem living rurally is you have no idea sometimes what's available!

so are you using 2 lcds for program and monitoring on your plasma? i ask cause the nvidia (8500) i'm using also has componet out as well, but i can't run 2 lcd's AND monitor at the same time. not sure if new nvidia can?

Only just.

I don't think you can send HD out firewire to the M15 and get HD component out of it. All you can get is SD component by sending DV out 1394 from Vegas.

Maybe you could add an Intensity card from BMD.

have my sony connected to component out of the m15 and the hd picture looks very - i suppose 'brittle' would best describe it - as if there's just too much res for the crt to handle.

dv w/s looks like one expects...

i suppose the only way to find out how it looks is to hook it up to a lcd.... have you ever tried that?

btw, don't think a card's worthwhile for what i want - after all i know what i'm going to get either way, it's just that if it was easy enough i'd buy a lcd tv for the comp out from the m15 just to get a bigger picture '-}

No ush, I can only use 2 outputs simultaneously:

- my 24" LCD for program at main DVI, plus my DVI->HDMI for preview / monitoring / playback on the 50' plasma, or
- my 24" LCD for program at main DVI, plus Component out for preview / monitoring / playback on the 50' plasma

These cards have the potential of 3 output types, but only 2 of them can be used at the same time. Therefore (once I repair my budget:)), I'll be installing a second, cheap ATI card to enable two "program" (i.e. Windows) desktops, AND either DVI->HDMI, or Component, big screen experience...

Unless something even better (BM Intensity?) comes up in the meantime.

ok, so my card's like yours, promising 3, delivering 2.... bit of a bugger really. do you know how vegas would handle your proposed second video card?

if it works, ie, dual monitor for t/l and 2nd card feeding hdmi / component, then it might be an affordable option....

keep me (us) informed please.

i'd rather spend $300+ on a hdmi card and monitor than a bm card.....

Feeding SD to a HD screen alway looks bad because of the upscalers. It looks worst with DV no matter how you fudge it.
I've tried DV > component / composite and it looks pretty sad.
DigiBeta > component / composite looks way better.

Of course HD Component from HD source into HD monitor looks awesome. HD SDI from EX1 into HD monitor, drool.

I will; it will take some time though (the second card and monitor may not be that expensive, but I have spent so much lately that my Wife might complain - I could hide the card, but not the monitor:))

The Matrox Parhelia will do three at one time but the first two will not be 1920 x 1080. The HD output will be 1920 x 1080. (60 hz)---If you use the first two converted to HDMI with cables you can get 1920 x 1080P (60 hz) but not HD on the third (not real sure on {third} this but pretty sure). I use an EVA 8800 with two 1920 x 1080P outputs (DVI converted cables to HDMI) and the third output unavailable. Spent big money on it and they do not advertize the fact you can only use two at a time. Pissed me off big time.

I asked when I had my new computer made how I could achieve this.
I was told simply two video cards... you can have up to 4 monitors that way.
My problem is I am sharing two displays between two computers (using kvm switches) but I also want to output my preview video to an HD monitor. One of the options is AJA video device, the other is the IEEE 1394 or secondary
What is AJA device, Do any HD t.v.s have firewire?
How do I get video preview to an HD T.v. in HD?

Either the secondary DVI output converted to HDMI (DVI cable to HDMI)with the video card set to 1920 x 1080 and Vegas set for secondary monitor or depending on the video card if you output with Vegas set to firewire and if the video card has a component output for HDTV plus the two DVI outputs and in fact can handle three ouputs at one time. With two video cards one of them feeding two monitors with Vegas set to secondary monitor and the other video card feeding the HDTV. Like I said before the Matrox Parhelia will do what you want but the two DVI ouputs will not get to 1920 x 1080. The HDTV output (component) will.
