That would be freezing here.

Actually I can do the conversion and that is hot.

Welcome back.

Lets see, that is 9/17 plus 43 2/5 except on Tuesday, when it is 44. Yep, that is hot.

304 degrees Kelvin, or thereabouts.

A very mild 87.8F otherwise. But, I never said I could do math. See the forumla, above.

31 celsius = 304.15 kelvin = 87.8 fahrenheit

360 kelvin is a tad warmer at:
188.334 fahrenheit or 86.85 celsius

Do you mind sending some of that heat our way? It's 55 and raining over here in Oregon (you do the math).

Is that C or F?

:~)

Come on Grazie, 87 F isn't hot for us Yanks, that's not much beyond warm in the states. I remember visiting Mt. Rusmore some time back which is in South Dakota and at a fairly high elevation (5,725 feet) at it was 108 degrees (F) at 11:00 AM. Now that's pretty hot, plus the humidity was in the 80% range. <wink>

91 and humid, Central Park reading@ 2PM. Hottest day since last August. Here in NYC, in case you also have a Central Park.

These Brits and their claims of warm weather :)

Hottest day in Perth this year was 44 Celcius with humidty in the 90%-95% range. (111F)

Very unpleasant but that's the price you pay for moving from dear old blighty to Western Australia.

Most of the time our summers here down under are around mid 30's Celcius with low humidity with hardly a cloud in the sky for about 5 months from October through to February.

It's cold now though, only about 15 Celcius.

Heck that isn't even warm. I was riding a bicycle through Kansas when it topped 108. :)

What was the nature of the PC problem? Did you identify it?

I ask because my main PC did something weird this morning and seems to have a boot problem now. I'm in the process of trying to ensure it is not malware.

At first I was pretty sure it was but my scans of the drive (I pulled it and externally attached it to a different machine) have shown nothing bad yet.

Looks like I should save all my data so far. (I can read the drive.)

Rexy!

A major corruption of the TCP/IP stack .. what ever that is!?!? Meant looking to to re-install WinMisery . . .well nooooo . .

1) I've got too much stuff needing to be reinstalled and updates just aint there anymore fro WinME.

2) It would take me something in excess of 3 dys fo "putz-kying" about to get to a point were I would be thinking, "Hey, about time I had Win XP!"

3) The laptop has a more than decent mb: P3; 1ghtz; 256 ram and it's got a 32 gig hd .. so maybe I'll upgrade it . .at some time to XP.

4) Now gotta a Compaq 2.8 P4 0.5gbram for a price which is nearly 3 days of my "Day Rate" anyway . . just not worth NOT buying it, quite frankly.

So, it could fhave got a Virus that sghredded my TCPI/IP function by doing some low level nasty. The Actual processor for this function may have got hosed somehow . . . But it was definately a comms thing. I had 3 independant individuals - 2 from this forum and a British Telecom true "expert" - attempting to "Ping" me without success. Oh, this last chap even took me through the re-install of all the comms processes. He actually, over the phone assisted me to re-build the TCP/IP stuff . . THAT didn't work . .so .. there yah goes! . . It is all very very boring and tedious stuff . . . But, I have a roof over my head, food in my belly and fresh running water . .THIS IS good!

Grazie

Ahhh. The old screw up the TCP stack so they'll buy a new machine ploy. Harder to implement than advertising, but a higher success rate in selling new hardware. <joke of course>

Not sure if my current issue is malware related, but the way it happened scared me. So far scanning shows no problems but things don't seem to work right. It sure can eat up lots of time either way. Sounds like you and me will not lose any data -- that's a good thing.

[Aside]
As I'm typing this I hear lots of popping outside -- like a fire fight. I go look and someone near buy is firing off a pretty major fireworks show. Its about 11:20 PM now. This isn't any kind of holiday is it?

31 degress but likely humis as heck. Last time I was back in Northumbria it was 35 and terribly humid. My homeland is economically deprived compared to London so no air conditioning anywhere, but they like it that way, dammit. The mid to high 30s we will be getting shortly here are tolerable in comparison.

In NYC here, I hadn't had to put the air conditioner in yet this year. When I got home I found, I had to cool down my cat. Wrapped her in towels soaked in cold water and kept her in front of a couple of fans. Took a while to get her to stop panting.

AC went in this morning. Kitty is feeling fine.
