Green flashes in Vegas 21 build 315

I was a bit reluctant to start a new project in build 315 given the new decoder issues (latest project was somewhere January with build 208), and sure enough, I get the dreaded green flashes. The build did not crash, but when I restarted Vegas with Intel as decoder (and not yet legacy AVC decoding turned on), Vegas would just hang. Turning legacy AVC decoding on (it selected geforce in auto) and the green flashes were gone.

What I did notice (maybe coincidence) that the green flash was when moving events acrost each other (to create a crossover). And in particular the media with the green flash was a standard camera X-AVS camera created slow motion file (from Sony RX10 M4) with obvious silent sound.

the glitch is gone (after setting everything back to default and saving and restarting Vegas - default as in the screenshot), it does not feel very comforting that a green flash can appear and disappear at random...

Do note that once it is there, it stays is at the same location on the timeline.

It is only gone after changing stuff in file I-O (and consequently restarting Vegas as is asked by the program).

The green frames seem inherent to MxCompound and certain footage. So4compound doesn't have that issue.

Personally I am sticking with 208 until the next version of VEGAS comes out which should develop this decoder further.

I asked a screenshot seeing the green frames but you gave a screenshot ( with default settings as at me) without the green frames

No (maybe because I trust Vegas and therefore use always the default settings).

@bitman I get the occasional green frame, I got one just now, changing the Preview option seems to resolve it 🤷‍♂️

I was getting green frames with avc video in version 315. The frames were usually 4 to 5 frames in a row. They went away after changing to legacy avc. Knock on wood.

@Gid youre an absolute legend thank you. To the other peoples comments I DIDNT try enabling legacy acv. this others guys post about just changing the preview quality fixes it as well. least it does for me.

The preview quality change won't fix the render, will it? That's normally done at best, full.

If you see green frames there you'll need legacy AVC. This issue was fixed with build 239 of 22.

@Brenden-Montgomery 👍 @RogerS Hi, for me this did fix the render, what I saw in the preview is what the render looked like, - Green frames in the preview = green frames in the render, change the preview to (Full) the green frames went away (VP updated or whatever it did) = no green frames in the render 🤷‍♂️

@RogerS I don't have much to offer to be honest, the post earlier was on 6/15/2024 & as you say it's been fixed. For me when I did get green frames they resolved themselves quickly with a preview change, a loop play or something as simple as zooming the timeline, that video was a sort of one off capture, I'd put money on if in that video I'd adjusted the transition by a frame or fiddled with it in some way that the green frames would've gone away. To me adjusting the preview wasn't exactly a solution, it was just a simple way I found that did resolve the issue without messing with the timeline, if that makes sense, 🤷‍♂️
