GreenScreen: How To Dissolve Subject?

I have a green screen setup/video that's working out OK.

Question: How would I add an effect to essentially dissolve via one of several means/effects the foreground subject?

The best way I can think to describe it is like on Star Trek, how the person will Beam Up, and you then see the person dissolve in an effect.

That is not exactly what I am trying to do, but that is the closest parallel I can describe. The concept is pretty much the same.

I have a feeling it has to do with Parent/Child/Compositing modes, with which I am not all that familiar.

If someone could get me started on this, I believe I can fine tune it from there.

I looked at the help file, but I do not believe I know precisely what I am looking for.

You can simply lock the camera down on a tripod. Shoot a few seconds without the subject (Mr. Spock) stop the camera then
tape a few with the suject standing in the shot.

Put the background sequence on track 2. Put the subject shot on
track 1. Set a key frame. Set a key frame later in timeline and adjust
the level of track 2. The person will fade out.

You can look for posts about difference keying and use that to make
a mask. You then can use the tv static fx for the sparklies (atoms)
and the mask to place it only over the subject.

There is a tutorial on this site somewhere, showing exactly this technique, as written by Dr. Dropout/one of the ForumAdmins.
I also describe it in the Vegas Workshop books, with a veg file and media.
Several methods, but the easy way is to shoot in front of a greenscreen, place the person in a background, and use a combination of linear blur, noise, and dissolve fade.
You can also do it without a greenscreen by shooting the background static, and then shooting with the action, fading the person in/out of the background by dissolving/xfading the events with the subject and background, and no subject/just background.
Be SURE to lock the tripod down tight or the effect won't work.

Thanks guys.

It turns out all I needed to do to get the effect I needed was to *simply* add my noise/distortion filter downstream of all of the green screen filters and key as appropriate.

That's it.
