Hey all,

I stumbled upon this while I was trying to resolve an incompatibility issue with some .avi files I got from a client. It's a converter that has a lot of options and supports many files and converts to either AVI or WMV. It's also free. I'm sure at least some in here know about it (maybe it's been posted, too), but it just got me out of a jam (Don't want to call your client and say you can't do their job for them...)

how do you convert files? I'm putting the file I want to convert into the "input file" box and the new format I want to have it converted in the "output file type" box. Now, I don't get it: what do I type in the "output file" box? They say that I have to type in the name of the file I want to save but I haven't saved anything yet?!!? I WANT to save under a new format! Each time I'm trying something it says "cannot open output file". There's something I miss here, probably a wee tiny little detail but I don't get the idea of exactly WHAT they WANT in those boxes...

I just chose browse for the input file (the file you want to convert) then I did the same path for the output file and added "-new" to it. Then you select the output settings, frame rate, etc. and let it rip. It worked for me.

Output is just the directory path & name you want to give the converted file.
