Hard Flash Transition displays outside of Letterbx

Greetings and thanks for any help in advance.

When I use a Hard Flash Transition within a 16x9 framed clip, the flash is seen outside of the boundary of the 16x9 frame. How do I stop that from happening?

Now the clip itself is set within Vegas to 16x9 and displays within that frame setting. But once the Hard Flash transition is used, the flash displays past the set frame and spills into the rest of the Letterbox.

Please advise. My apologies if this is a super rookie question.

The hard flash is working on the entire project dimensions regardless of what you have framed. The two solutions are to 1) actually make your project 16:9 and letterbox when you render, or 2) add physical black bars as media to the top track to act as the letterbox and hide the flash spill.

If the aim is to make a letterbox video then I'd suggest editing everything in a 16:9 project, render a final AVI @ 16:9, then bring that in to a 4:3 project and it will be letterboxed.

You could also use two separate tracks & transition envelopes to get the same (or similar) effect with FX.
