@LukasDr Ok, I tested (on PC) this 3rd. sample set, single HEVC clip, 59.94fps with PP set to same. I cannot get full playback fps with any combination of what are the two key items. In Options/Preferences ... #1 Video either Nvidia or Intel and in #2 File I/O Nvidia or Intel.

When I right click the preview and set/check "Adjust size and quality for optimal playback" I get 48-50fps with #1 Intel #2 Intel.

The 2nd. best playback rate was using #1 Nvidia #2 Intel. 40+ to 48fps.

All of the above fps rates only kick in for ~ the last 2/3rds of playback, it's much worse for the ~ 1st. third of clip playback. I also always used "Adjust size and quality for optimal playback".

I didn't need to test with Colour grading as I never even get full fps without CG.

The Last sample I tried playing back. Vegas can not play it back reliably at 60fps until I set playback to 0.60 playback speed, it then becomes reliable at 60fps playback, real decode 36fps. With edits it drops frames again. Nvidia GPU decoding. This is an good example of the bad Nvidia GPU decoding on Vegas. I have a 12core cpu, it can't play back this file with CPU alone but it should with GPU decoding

@LukasDr It's worth mentioning that by using proxies I get full playback, 59.940 fps, using laptop, Nvidia Gpu only, (would be similar for PC i'm sure). It settles on "Preview/Half", with "Adjust size and quality for optimal playback" checked. The first say 5% is slower, then full fps playback.

So proxies are a workaround until if/ever Nvidia HW Decoding is improved to the level of Intel.
