I am using Vegas Pro 9 to edit Red (r3d) raw footage. However, my current system is not powerful enough to handle it. Can anyone tell me what is the minimum I need to make this work? i7 processor or do I need xeon? how much RAM? can the hard drive be 7200RPM or do I need 15k? any input would be greatly appreciated.

Seriously ... Do not ask HERE !!! WAY TOO MUCH IS AT STAKE ($$,$$$).

I would say that a Max-clocked 930 with 12GB DDR3/1600c7 and a FERMI card would get you into the ball park, but won't you feel silly if you take my advice and waste $3,500 ??

Obviously, there is NO WAY that ANY desktop will ever be "fast enough".

There is NO LIMIT to how much power can be employed ... ONLY a limit on what you can spend and how valuable your time is (render sessions).

... I think the build I mentionned WILL get you an "entry level" seat as it surpasses tha APPLE PRO WS specs for FCP, which does do "The R3Dnezz"

Also, some of the most recent Blackmagic Design products, may be of use.
