Has ANYONE captured HDV under Windows 2000?

This post is a follow-on to my previous post entitle "Need help w HDV capture and HVR-A1", which led me to the conclusion that HDV capture in Windows is ONLY possible with XP and not Win2k. This is because HDV camcorders appear as D-VHS devices and only XP has those drivers. Various people in other forums have suggested that loading a certain Panasonic driver MIGHT work, but none of those folks have done it themselves.

If there is anyone who has ACTUALLY SUCCEEDED in doing HDV capture in Windows 2000, please let us know how you did it. If you have, this is your chance to be a hero of sorts.

Looks like no go as far as Vegas is concerned - and they use a lot of M$ specific code - http://www.sonymediasoftware.com/Products/showproduct.asp?PID=965&FeatureID=8209

Yes, the official answer from Sony is that you must use XP SP2. That doesn't mean that someone hasn't made it work on Windows 2000... but I've not yet found anyone who has (and was not able to myself).

Thanks for your feedback. After much searching on the web, I kind of figured that it was a no-go with any tool (Vegas or third-party standalone). If any of you do eventually hear about someone succeeding in a Win2k/HDV capture, please share that in a post.

I think the issue is that when Win2K was released, Prosumer HDV was only a glimmer in the collective thoughts of us mere mortals. High End Media100 and Avid workstations with SONY Altacine cameras were the only option at that time I believe. More or less it has to do with the OS actually seeing the HDV camera the same way as WinXP does. Drivers probably aren't even available... I want to use Win2k myself as I have a spare disk laying around, but in reality, now that XP has pretty much matured, it will be the minimal OS for doing any amount of HDV acquisition.
