Some of you may have missed my originally post on this topic. Has anyone succesfullly been able to play an mpeg-2 rendered in Vegas 5.0b in Quicktime 6.5.1? In addition, has anyone succesfullly been able to play an mpeg-2 rendered in Vegas 5.0b in anything PREVIOUS to Quicktime 6.5.1? Any reponses would be greatly appreciated.
As they have to pay money for a mpeg-2 decoder I think you have to pay as well. Of course WMP is a bit more sensible, so long as there's a suitable codec for anything on your PC it'll use it. I don't know if QT is that sensible on PCs or Macs.
Mac is notoriously mpeg-2 unfriendly. Very difficult and time consuming to make mpeg-2 from a Mac. I presume this is why you are having difficulties on playback.
Mac wants QT to be the standard and they have virtually ignored mpeg-2.
If anyone has any different info on this I have 3 Macs waiting for an easy, reliable and quick mpeg-2 solution.
We cablecast using an mpeg-2 server and virtually all files are converted using Vegas 4.
Right now programs created on a Mac using FCP or iMovie are required to be submitted on tape so it can be captured and mpeg'd using Vegas.
