Have Ignite Pro plug-ins been completely discontinued? And suggestion?

Hello,

I've been using FXHome's Ignite Pro plug-ins since they were included in Sony/Magix Vegas Pro Suite ("Suite" which was the most complete Vegas package that you could buy back then, the closest thing now would be Vegas Post I guess.)

As I'm updating Vegas 19 to the latest build and also just purchased Vegas 20 Post, I'm checking if there are upgrades for any of the plug-ins I use.

I just went on FXHome's site and I see no reference to that product anymore. I can still find some "latest version" dated from Nov. 2020 by search Google...

...doing some more search I found that they had an update in Nov 2021 but I cannot use it with my licence, and I read on their forums that that A- They removed Ignite Pro temporarily to fix things OR B- They discontinued Ignite Pro.

If I need to find something to replace it, do you know of other similar plug-in suites ? What would you recommend (to use with Vegas Pro).

Though I' thinking right now that I mostly used it for colour correction and fine tuning ... maybe I need to get deeper into the "recent" Vegas colour correction things, but when I tried it months?years? ago I didn't find it as handy for my workflow as what I was I used to with Ignite Pro... And if I remember well Ignite Pro had more options for things like constrast and exposure... which I could more easily related to from photography editing...

But just maybe... I've been away from video editing for months and just right now I'm not in a moment where I "chain-producing" and I am in better time to take some step back to check some other tools...

This from HiTFilm's forum re Ignite Pro:

We've removed Ignite from the FXhome website as of this update. We’re working hard on improving a number of things including the plugin tech, effect variety, quality, and support. Keep an eye on your emails for upcoming plugin news - you'll definitely be interested in what we're working on

https://community.fxhome.com/discussion/58084/is-ignite-pro-not-available-anymore

The quote is apparently from November 2021 but I believe that Ignite Pro was withdrawn from sale in July 2021.

Is Ignite Pro coming back? I don't now, but after 13 months I'm not full of confidence and am definitely not holding my breath.

Alternatives:

  • NewBlueFX have a VFX plugin package available by purchase or subscription: https://newbluefx.com/post/ . Sub-packages are also available.

There is a bit of a learning curve to the Color Grading Panel now available in Vegas Pro, but I am getting the hang of it and getting some good results. One omission so far is keyframing.

@TTTT Hi, I don't have Ignite Pro so don't know exactly what they offered but I have Hitfilm Pro & have briefly looked at what Ignite Pro had to offer in the past, but didn't buy because I have the full Boris suite which seemed to cover most things in Ignites list 🤷‍♂️ https://borisfx.com/

Everything with BCC at the start is Continuum, the ones with S_ is Sapphire

PS. if you do want one of the Boris packages, use the little chat window bottom right & ask what offers are on, you'll poss get it 25% cheaper 👍

Yes, FXHome Ignite has been discontinued. However your older version of ignite will still work in Vegas 20. I would recommend you continue using that.

Thank you all for replies.
My first thoughts now:

- BorisFX seems quite expensive (4x the price of Ignite Pro if I remebmer well). I think it's got good reputation but I never got hooked by BorisFX as well as NewBlue demo plug-ins that come with Vegas. (never really got into it and I'm not even really sure of all the things they do)

- Ignite Pro still working on Vegas 20 is indeed a short-term solution (but I hope they continue it, which would be better for backwards compatibility of my older projects).

- (according to some video) Vegas added White Balance: Temperature and Tint, HSL Curves -> all good points for Vegas (and it's free since I'm traditionally buying new Vegas versions)

(I feel like the Temperature and Tint range are quite limited though...)

- Though: No keyframes can be a deal breaker for some projects.

- And right now I only see "Track colour grading", not even "Event colour grading" am I missing it ? (complete deal breaker for me...) --> Ok, found it for event -> Click "..." on bottom right of the event, then "Color Grading" -> Is there a shortcut for this?

Color grading works at all the Fx levels. Alt + g is the shortcut and then you can assign the level you want it at.

At this point there is only hue vs hue curves but I would expect saturation and luminance to follow. No keyframes but you can apply general edits as media and then tweak events which you could chop up as much as needed.
