Having trouble getting videos to render

ShawnGN wrote on 10/26/2010, 3:28 PM
Lately when I try to render my videos I have been running into issues where it will stop rendering at some point and a box will pop up saying "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly" Or I've seen one I can't quite remember, something about Low Memory? Anyways- I have not made any changes to my computer since I have been able to render videos with no problem, so I'm confused as to what could be causing this- Also, the boxes that pop up are just about the most vague descriptions possible- How am I supposed to know what the problem was that caused the program to stop working?
If it helps, I'm running windows 7 on a Asus laptop- g60Vx series - I've had it for close to a year and have had no issues with it other than this Vegas problem that is baffling me. It's really a bummer because I spend a lot of time filming/editing and I feel like I've got a 50/50 shot of being able to render my videos lately. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Shawn:

Wow that sucks. I am no guru, but there are many who ARE on this forum.

It may help if you post the details about the last project you were able to render on your computer successfully, ie., was it AVCHD or HDV, was it HD or SD, the project settings, the render settngs, how big it was, etc. Then post the settings of the project you are now trying to render.

Maybe something will jump out if the Forum has this information.

Just to add to what Kim was asking, how long is the project?
Does it hang at the same spot?

You can try rendering half the video then the other half, to find the area that may be causing the problem.

It could be a corrupt video file.

A few more details about the video and the problem would be helpful.

In addition to the information about your project, it may help to know how much you have of the following (when you have your project open, before rendering):

Hard Drive space, total and available
Physical RAM, total and available
Virtual RAM, total and available
Type of graphics card (including ram) <--Not absolutely necessary, but if you can get it, great
The version of the software you are running

You said that you've made 0 changes so I'm lead to believe it's not a software issue, so hardware may be the culprit. The first three listed are the key things, if it's not a software issue.
