I know this topic has been discussed in previous threads, and I had hoped to solve my problem by finding help from those threads,...but nothing seems to be helping , so here's my situation. I can't enable properly the "Save Snapshot to File" option on the video preview window in my Vegas 5. I'd like to save some still frame shots from video footage in the Trimmer.

I have disabled the "Preview on External Monitor" icon, but the "Save Snapshot to File" icon
only becomes highlighted when the preview window is blank (black). When I click on any spot in the Trimmer timeline, the corresponding frame becomes visible in the preview window, but the
"Save Snapshot to File" icon is then greyed out and doesn't work.

I've been trying to solve this for over an hour now. A few times the "Save Snapshot to File" icon remained functional when I had a visible frame in the preview window, and the window came up for pointing where I wanted to save the jpg., ...but when I hit "save" the preview window went black and just a black .jpg was saved . Something's not configured right here, but I can't seem to figure what it is. There doesn't seem to be anything related to still frame capture that should be enabled in OPTIONS/ PREFERENCES/ General Preferences, ....but perhaps someone knows where something else needs to be tweaked..............any suggestions would be really appreciated.
