We just recently aquiered a camera that records on hdvcpro format wich is real high def. format. When I try to download the files into my system, it recognizes them as quicktime mov. files and I could get audio out of them but no video comes up. then it displays a message that says : stream attributes could not be determined. Does any body know what I can do to get video?

You should look into Raylight.

However if they're Quicktime I think you're kind of up the creek without a paddle.

Raylight Decoder is a DVCPROHD decoder for Quicktime and it works with Vegas. See dvfilm.com/raylight/decoder

However you are better off recording your HVX200 video to MXF file format, and using the Raylight plugin for Vegas which permits DVCPROHD MXF files in the timeline, see dvfilm.com/raylight

Avid also makes a codec available for free. I can't vouch for it except to say that it exists.

And evidently if you acquire via FCP they'll be unreadable anywhere else. So don't do that.
