HD to SD render

I have the new Sony HDR AX2000. I shot some footage in 1080 and rerendered it to SD 720x480. The footage has the letterbox on top and bottom. Also, if I shoot in SD mode, and import it into vegas, I still get the letter box. How can I prevent this. Thanks:)

Choose the wide screen preset (DV wide screen) in your mainconcept mpg-2 drop down when you render.

Also, you can change your project properties to have a widescreen property.
