HDR-FX1000 Capture quality

I have 2 HD cameras, the above and a $100 Aiptek that records at 720i.

When I displayed my video on an HD TV directly from the Sony via an HDMI cable the quality was stunning.

When I catured the video to my PC from the Sony using not only Vegas 9 but Adobe Premiere Elements, Cyberlink Power Director Pro or HDVSplit the results were no better than my old Cannon GL1 DV. They are markedly inferior to the results of the Aiptek's imported .mov files. The Sony camera Tech support merely refered me to Page 37 of the Camera manual (sic!).

I have been beating my head against this brick wall for 6 months. I love the camera but I can't for the life of me figure out what stupid thing I'm doing to louse up this gorgeous camera's output.

Help would be very much appreciated.

After you've captured the video to your PC from the Sony, how did you get the video from your PC onto your HD TV?

Maybe you're referring to the interlacing artifacts? The TV de-interlaces before show stuff you see. Make sure you're always using the right project properties, and de-interlace.

Thank you for your reply.

Amazingly I don't own an HD TV yet! However, my Sony VGC-LT28E doubles as an HDTV with a 22" display, a tuner but no HDMI connector. When I play (my only) Blu-Ray the quality is fully up to expectations. I'm using the VLC media player to play back an .m2t clip.

Thanks for your reply.

I' playing back on a Sony VGC-LT28E which doubles as an HD TV, it has a tuner but no HDMI connection. I'm playing back an .m2t clip using the VLC media player.

I don't get the option to de-interlace, it's set to HDV 1080i.
