I did some testing and I have to agree that Vegas does better in converting HDV footage to DV.

The main finding in my tests is that the project setting "Deinterlace Method" must be set to "None" to get the results I desired. Interesting, though, is that Laurence contends that he gets better results with anything other than "None".
This was raw-unedited footage, auto everything except focus, and didn't even have a fluid head, so no gripes from the pros!
Lots of downloads, and if the server gets over 100GB, I'm going to have to pull the mpgs.
