HDV for broadcast, problems rendering

I'm used to rendering m2t files and downsizing for the web. Now I've got the opportunity to be broadcast, but I'm having trouble with the render.

I tried rendering out an m2t, and the feedback from the broadcast guy was the m2t wasn't as crisp as the HDV .mov files, and that the audio was compressed and he needed it uncompressed, the exact term he used was "discreet audio" (i've never heard that term used in my life). Then he said that he's had better results with .avi's from pc based editing.

I've tried to render out .avi using the cineform, but it keeps bumping out in 4:3, and doesn't give me the option of 16:9. It also doesn't give me the option of uncompressed audio. It is not as sharp looking as the m2t files.

Does anyone have a clue how to render out as an .avi but keep it 16:9 1440?

My project settings are 1080 24p (progressive), he also requested that I render out 60i 29.97, instead of the 23.97 that I had.

My footage was shot with the Canon XH-A1, 24f, HDV
