HDV-Framserve-MP4-HD-WMV?

Can someone fill me in on the details of making an HDV file on WMV?
What version of Nero? Nero Showtime? Download Nero HD codec? CD-R discs? DVD-R discs? Dual-layer discs? Are there players that can play HD-WMV? What about MP4?
Why do I have to framserve to Nero when I can render the WMV in Vegas? Can I put the WMV on a DVD disc? Otherwise I would need about 6 CD-R discs for a 1.5 hr flick. Can Nero string together discs for one project?
Thanks

I use the Avellink2 Networked DVD Player for playing wmv9 HD files in my home theater (Runco 980 Ultra front projector projecting on to a 76 X 43. in. 16:9 Stewart Studiomatte screen). The Avellink 2 player will play the files either from the attached USB HD, by streaming them wirelessly to the Avellink 2 Player from the HD on my PC, or by burning the files to a data DVD.

Here is the procedure that I follow. I capture my HDV footage in Vegas 6.0c using the Vegas internal capture program. I then use GearShift to convert the .m2t files to widescreen DV proxies. I use these proxies for all my editing and then use GearShift to replace the trimmed proxies with the original .m2t files. I then render to wmv v9 HD files using a Vegas template for this render. I then burn the files to a standard DVD using the HP Record Now software that came with my HP DVD-writer. This wmv 9 data disk will play fine in the Avellink 2 Player. Any software that can be used for preparing data DVD's will work. I have Nero 6, but I simply prefer to use the HP REcord NOw because I am more familiar with it.

The Avellink2 Player does not currently play mpeg4 files.

I hope this helps and answers at least some of your questions.

TNW has covered the WMV9. Frame-serving is for rendering to full resolution MPEG4 (not the Vegas low resolution template) and you need Nero 6+. See the VASST tutorial.
