HDV "Picture Profiles" and AE shift

I've been collecting and tabulating Picture Profile settings for the FX1/Z1 from this and several other forums. I plan to go test shooting using all the profiles in the situations they have been designed for, and compare results. I note that while many of the "profiles" I will be testing have negative numbers for AE shift, no profile poster has said how their Zebra levels are set. Is AE shift meaningful in the absence of a Zebra setting? And secondly, if you are adjusting exposure by looking at the LCD or a monitor, what is the point of setting and AE shift at all?

as far as i know the ae shift means nothing if you are setting exposure manually, and if you are on auto then ae would be meanigfull only with zebras,, but if you are on auto and messin with ae, why not just use manual and the iris
hope you post your profile setting results
