Hello, is anybody there...... Hello......

I'm just trying to be funny.

I'm using Vegas Pro 8. I film in HD NTSC 5.1 720 x 480. I recently learning how to record audio to the timeline using the arm record etc. Once the WAV file is saved it plays great in the timeline as I narrate some photos. However rendering to Mpeg4 in with the surround settings, I've been rendering successfully until now.

I had to export the WAV file to Audacity, convert it to Mp3 and then re-insert in the timeline. It worked. Seems like a lot of work.

Any suggestions?

Of course I'm a FNG.

Thanks in advance. Joe

also, on a separate issue: I'm doing some new things. I'm running an old system with 2 gigs of ram. XP.

This is probably the largest file I've worked with. I have over 200 project media sources.

Is this what's causing Vegas to crash everytime of move off of the Vegas Desk Top and work on another open application?

Please say yes.

No such thing as "HD NTSC". I presume you mean HD at 29.97fps.

Exporting to MP3 is a bad idea, as it's a lossy format and you'll lose some quality.

Please tell us what the problem is. You've been rendering successfully until now, but what happens now? You didn't explain that at all.

720x480 is not HD "anything."

Nice.

Let's not get caught up on the little things.

OK, but you still didn't tell us what the "big" thing is.

So I read two issues:
it crashes on alt tab
it doesn't render a big file

change your temp folder to a new one without a . in the file name.

you mention being on XP now. when the renders worked were you on win7? Perhaps the file is too long for a FAT 32 drive?

Try this:
create new temp folder
remove all plugins.
select one minute of program and render that to a new file.

Any luck?
