I bet you're using win xp. It doesn't work without massive tweaking.

If you're not, try atapi mmc driver. It's on the list of drives. Sometimes works. There are a number of threads earlier highlighting the problem you describe.

If your drive isn't directly supported, use the generic ATAPI aor SCSI MMC-Compatible driver from the list. It's in the SF/S online support FAQ

Wait...I'm using XP Pro. What tweeks should I have to make? I just upgraded to XP Pro and CDA doesn't seem to work at 48x with no rendering, but I assumed it was due to lack of rendering.

I also assume it will work at 4x (the speed I will use to create my masters).

What am I missing?

Try it at a sensible speed, say 8 or 12 x. If it doesn't work there, then start by selecting a comptability mode in the app properties in XP.

What's amazing is that it burns great at 24x with Roxio's Easy CD Creator (I think verion 5).

So many people say these things that this is getting silly. I did nothing special with CDA...no effects, just burn some 16-bit wave files.

Why do these other programs burn well at high speed, but CDA does not? Same wave files, same CD drive, same speed. Roxio works, CDA doesn't. Gosh, seems like a CDA problem to me.

I really don't care whether Sonic Foundary thinks they are doing things according to the book or not. The fact remains that other software does it better (regarding burning at high speed; there are other things that CDA does better, of course).

CDA4.5 came out when Roxio ( Adaptec Easy CD Creator) was at around V3. Try comparing EZCD5 with, say, CDA5 . ALthough that is not comparing like applications either, as CDA5 is doing a lot more than EZCD.

FWIW , iff you want low error-rate, player-friendly CD-Rs, writing speeds of greater than 12x are extremely dodgy.
