Here's a screenshot from a project i'm working on. Need to get rid of the license plate in the background...can't reshoot....the actor's head moves over the plate at one point then back away....any suggestions...don't know of anyway in vegas...i'm not to sure how to work with the bezier masking .....and i haven't had time to sit down and really master my combustion....so i call upon the pros

completely remove it or just mask like COPS?

if like COPS, use the cookie cutter masking:

Your link gets me to a page, but no image. Just the placeholder.
Bezier masking should do this based on the sparse description, but need to see what you have overall.

hmmm...don't know why you can't see the pic...just checked it and its there....no..not like cops...i want to blend it in with the paint of the van...so you can't tell it's there

The reason we can't see your photo (and you can) is that you have not actually uploaded the image onto your web page. The image file on your site is linking ot a local file that is ON YOUR hard drive.

This is what you have linked to.

You need to find a way to upload that file onto your web site before we can see this.

Not sure how much effort your willing to put into it or how long the shot is, but if you really want it to look great I would run the script " export as frames " on the segment you want to fix and do it frame by frame in Photoshop. As Vegas does not support motion tracking, I think it would be hard to do otherwise.

Is the camera stationary?
Do you have V5?

If both of the answers to the above are yes - then you may be able to use the Bezier mask tool to keyframe a mask around the license plate which moves as the actors head comes into frame. Just "underlay" a bit of suitably colored white-ish media below the mask... and you might get what you are looking for.

What I would do instead of trying to hide the license plate, replace it with a fake one made in Photoshop or some similar application, then bring it in on a higher layer and position as necessary. Reason = the car being so obvious in the background is going to look odd without a license plate.

No...the camera is not stationary...and the boy's head actually moves across the plate at one time....i managed to almost make it disappear in combustion....but with my limited skill in that program..it looks a little weak

In that case you likely will need to use a product that has motion tracking.
