HELP! Adding ac3 file made 400mb = 2.5gb???

Does anyone know why adding an .ac3 file, in my case one that is around 90mb, would make my "disc used" amount go from 400mb to 2.5gb? Does the bitrate in DVDA make that much of a difference?

I have 14 mp3's. These are just audio files with a simple png background image. 4 of them are over 10mb in size. I didn't make them and don't know what bitrate there were made with. But, I do know that several of them are over 25 minutes in length.

I needed to work with them in Vegas because a few of them needed things like (volume work, EQ, etc).

I don't want to lower the bitrate too much and risk killing the quality of the video elements on the disc.

I've got to get this done by Tuesday night/early Wednesday morning.

All help is appreciated.

It sounds like you have a combination of some video titles, and some audio-only assets.

If you are adding a long audio-only asset as regular media, then DVDA is calculating the space requirement based on the assumption that there is also video associated with the audio file for the duration of the track, and that the video will be at the bitrate in your project settings (this will increase your space-used totals).

If you Insert Music Compilation (rt-click on a menu, or rt-click where needed in the tree structure on the left), you can add your audio-only track (and can also assign a picture for the audio compilation).
