Help: any rescue tool for a corrupted video file?

Hi all,

I captured a video lastly without repecting the 4 Go limit on a fat32 disk (just my own, plain, stupid mistake!...) . All data seems there. I got a just over 4 Go file but i can't read it in any video app...

I guess the file was just wrongly termited because the capture app (Scenalyser) just stopped at the fat32 limit.

I absolutly need the file and can't recapture. Is there any way to rescue this? Any help on this issue would be immensely appreciated!

If the file is in AVI format give Video Fixer a shot. Its great for fixing corrupted files, repairing the file's index, creating one when its missing and things like that. The download allows for use for I think ten days or so before purchasing.

Have you tried to open in VirtualDub?

If a MPEG, such tools as All Media Fixer, MPEG-corrector and several others may save your butt. One trick I use sometimes that works once in awhile is first find yourself a splitter/joiner application, there are many to pick them. Then take your"bad" video file and spiit it into x number of parts.

Once spilt into pieces try joining back together a little at a time, till you bypass the corruption which is likely in the tail end of the file. Once such joiner is Master Splitter. In other if you have a 4GB file, depending on how large you make the parts you end up with 105 parts, just try rejoining the first 104 and see what happens.
